Leadership Team.

Accordias Healthcare Services, LLC was founded in May of 2012 to provide Business Office and Revenue Cycle Management services to rural, community, and critical access hospitals. Accordias’s target market is defined as non-federal, short-term general and specialty hospitals with less than 500 beds. Accordias’s three founding partners have a combined 75 years of healthcare management experience in hospital revenue cycle operations. Their combined experience covers healthcare financial management, patient access, and IT infrastructure in facilities ranging from small critical access hospitals to large for-profit healthcare systems.

Carmen

Carmen Voelz

With over 35 years of experience in healthcare financial operations, most recently holding leadership positions at Optum, Dell/Perot Systems and Cerner, Carmen lends her considerable provider experience to Accordias Healthcare Services, LLC as a founding Principal.  Carmen is involved in service delivery, financial management of the company, and business development activities.  

The collaborative, consulting approach Accordias Healthcare and its Service Center offer, allows Carmen to leverage her knowledge, skills and a network of healthcare professionals built through a long and successful tenure in healthcare. 

Preceding her appointment at Cerner, Carmen was Principal of her own healthcare consulting practice, C. A. Voelz & Associates, focused on patient access, cash acceleration, revenue cycle analysis and process redesign in addition to interim senior leadership positions.

Carmen spent the first 25 years of her career responsible for areas within Finance Divisions of several health systems in Wisconsin and Minnesota.  These included a large, multi-state IDN with more than 500 providers in addition to two regional healthcare networks. She also held a position as Director of Operations for Blue Cross & Blue Shield United of Wisconsin. As an accomplished trainer and consultant, Carmen served as adjunct faculty for the State of Minnesota where she focused on strategic planning and customized training programs in the business environment. Preceding the formation of her own consulting firm, Ms. Voelz was Senior Consultant for Ascension Corporation and was responsible for revenue cycle management consulting engagements and client cash accelerations initiatives.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, is a Fellow for both HFMA and the National Association of Healthcare Access Managers (NAHAM), a Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP), Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM), and is immediate Past President of TN HFMA.

Chris

Chris Joiner

MBA Partner

A revenue cycle and healthcare finance executive with over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Chris lends his talent and expertise with client operations and business development to Accordias Healthcare Services.  He most recently lead operations teams at Optum360 and Dell Healthcare with a focus on revenue cycle optimization and fiscal performance.  Previously at Cerner Corporation, Chris was a Strategic Consultant where he specialized in revenue cycle and A/R management, business planning, budgeting, process redesign and third party reimbursement optimization.  Accordias Healthcare Services provides Chris with an opportunity to use his considerable talents and knowledge to assist clients struggling with their financial and system operations.

Joiner’s healthcare tenure began in provider operations where he spent his early years at Olsten Healthcare and Dallas Children’s Medical Center.  While at Olsten Healthcare, the largest home health provider in the world at the time, he had oversight for CBO operations that provided support for over 100 offices in Texas and California.  Dallas Children’s Medical Center gave Chris the opportunity to serve in various management roles including patient financial service operations, oversight during three system implementations, leading Emergency Department operations and IT Revenue Cycle systems.

Chris holds a Master of Business Administration with a focus on International Business from Phoenix University and a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration and Long-Term Care Administration from Texas State University.  He is immediate Past President of the Texas Lone Star Chapter of HFMA.
